BRANDYWINE, Md. — On September 20, Potomac Hospitality Group (PHG) hosted more than 200 guests at the scenic Hennessy Creek for the latest installment of its highly anticipated Fried Chick’n & Champagne: A Secret Supper Experience. This year’s theme, Juke Joint, honored the historic gathering places where communities once came together to share food, music, and joy—spaces that shaped culture and created lasting memories for generations.

Fried Chick’n & Champagne is an elevated celebration of culture, artistry, and connection. Tastemakers and food enthusiasts from across the country came together for a family-style dining experience, paired with curated champagne selections and surrounded by original, one-of-one art pieces from local creators including Antonio Moore, Nikki Perry, Sugar Taylor, KAYEMJAY6, Jamie Monroe, CreativeBre, and Suzette Royster. As PHG’s flagship restaurant, Ruby’s Southern Comfort Kitchen anchors this vision, showcasing elevated Southern dining at its finest.

The evening opened with a cocktail reception featuring hors d'oeuvres and inventive drinks crafted under the direction of beverage director Ezra Allen of the CAnE Collective. Guests sampled cocktail selections such as the fig-forward “Velvet Smoke” and the fruit-driven “Plum Crazy” before moving into a multi-course dinner designed by Food Network’s Guy’s Grocery Games champion and former Blk Swan and Copper Kitchen chef, Saon Brice. The menu – prepared at live culinary stations by expert chefs – included refined yet soulful dishes, such as cast iron sea bass with a halo hartume reduction, smoked rabbit with carrot purée, and braised short rib accented with truffle and crimson powder.

Executive Pastry Chef Padua Player closed the evening with desserts that echoed the theme’s balance of comfort and elegance, including a chocolate-hazelnut dome layered with anglaise and meringue and a vanilla sponge with fruit crèmeux and glacé berries. Together, the food and beverage program created a dining journey that was as immersive as it was memorable.

“The Juke Joint theme reminded us of the power of shared spaces—places where people gathered for comfort food, music, laughter, and community,” said Candi Dailey, CEO of Potomac Hospitality Group. “This year’s event embodied that same spirit, offering guests an elevated dining experience and a space for authentic connection, creativity, and joy.”

The event was supported by sponsors CJW Contractors, A Better You Medical Spa, Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce, Moët Hennessy (Veuve Clicquot), Edmonds Honor, Sir Davis, Narcisso Wines, and Jpix Studios.

Beyond the supper itself, impact is at the heart of Fried Chick’n & Champagne. Each gathering creates opportunities for collaboration, for artists to share their work, and for guests to build meaningful relationships that extend far beyond the evening. For those seeking the same spirit year-round, Ruby’s Southern Comfort Kitchen offers a place where culture is preserved, community thrives, and joy becomes its own legacy.

The Secret Supper Experience: Fried Chick’n & Champagne will return in 2026. Guests can join the waitlist at https://www.fccsecretsupper.com.
